ഫെഡറേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് മുസ്‌ലിം വുമണ്‍ അസോസിയേഷന്റെ (നൈജീരിയ) പ്രഥമ സെക്രട്ടറി. ഇസ്‌ലാമിക് എഡ്യൂക്കേഷന്‍ ട്രസ്റ്റ് ഡയറക്ടര്‍. ലണ്ടന്‍ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റിയില്‍ നിന്ന് പഠനം പൂര്‍ത്തിയാക്കിയ ലെമു 1968 മുതല്‍ 76വരെ സ്‌കോട്ടോ ഗവഃ ഗേള്‍സ് കോളെജിന്റെ പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പലായിരുന്നു.

1940ല്‍ ഡോര്‍സെറ്റിലെ പൂളില്‍ ബ്രിഡ്ജറ്റ് ഐഷ ഹണി എന്ന പേരിലാണ് ഐഷ ലെമു ജനിച്ചത്. പതിമൂന്നാം വയസ്സില്‍, അവര്‍ അവരുടെ വിശ്വാസത്തെ ചോദ്യം ചെയ്യാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. ഹിന്ദുമതവും ചൈനീസ് ബുദ്ധമതവും ഉള്‍പ്പെടെയുള്ള മറ്റ് മതങ്ങള്‍ പര്യവേക്ഷണം ചെയ്യാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി. ചൈനീസ് ചരിത്രം, ഭാഷ, സംസ്‌കാരം എന്നിവയില്‍ താത്പര്യം പ്രകടിപ്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ട് അവര്‍ ലണ്ടന്‍ യൂണിവേഴ്‌സിറ്റി സ്‌കൂള്‍ ഓഫ് ഓറിയന്റല്‍ ആന്‍ഡ് ആഫ്രിക്കന്‍ സ്റ്റഡീസില്‍ (SOAS) പഠിച്ചു. അവിടെവെച്ച്, ഇസ്‌ലാമിക സാഹിത്യം വായിക്കാന്‍ നല്‍കിയ മുസ്‌ലിങ്ങളെ അവര്‍ കണ്ടുമുട്ടി. 1961-ല്‍ തന്റെ ആദ്യവര്‍ഷ പഠനകാലത്ത് ഇസ്‌ലാമിക് കള്‍ച്ചറല്‍ സെന്ററില്‍ വെച്ച് അവള്‍ ഇസ്‌ലാം മതം സ്വീകരിച്ചു. തുടര്‍ന്ന് ആഇശലെമു എന്ന പേര് സ്വീകരിച്ചു. പിന്നീട് SOAS-ല്‍ ഇസ്‌ലാമിക് സൊസൈറ്റി സ്ഥാപിക്കാന്‍ അവര്‍ സഹായിച്ചു, അതിന്റെ ആദ്യ സെക്രട്ടറിയായി. കൂടാതെ ഫെഡറേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് സ്റ്റുഡന്റ് ഇസ്‌ലാമിക് സൊസൈറ്റീസ് രൂപീകരിക്കുന്നതിലും അവര്‍ സഹായിച്ചു.

SOAS-ല്‍ നിന്ന് ബിരുദം നേടിയ ശേഷം, ഇംഗ്ലീഷ് ഒരു വിദേശ ഭാഷയായി പഠിപ്പിക്കുന്നതിനുള്ള ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദ പഠനത്തിലേര്‍പെട്ടു. അങ്ങനെ ചെയ്യുന്നതിനിടയില്‍, ലണ്ടന്‍ സര്‍വകലാശാലയിലെ മറ്റൊരു കോളേജില്‍ പഠിക്കുകയും അവിടെ പഠനത്തിലുണ്ടായിരുന്ന ഷെയ്ഖ് അഹമ്മദ് ലെമുവിനെ കണ്ടുമുട്ടി.  ബിരുദാനന്തര ബിരുദം നേടിയ ശേഷം, 1966 ഓഗസ്റ്റില്‍ നൈജീരിയയിലെ കാനോയിലേക്ക് മാറി. അവിടെ അറബിക് പാഠ്യപദ്ധതിയുള്ള സ്‌കൂളില്‍ അധ്യാപികയായി. ഷെയ്ഖ് അഹമ്മദ് ലെമു ഹെഡ്മാസ്റ്ററായും അവിടെ ജോലി ചെയ്തു. 1968 ഏപ്രിലില്‍ അവര്‍ വിവാഹിതരായി. ഐഷ അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ രണ്ടാം ഭാര്യയാണ്. ഗവണ്‍മെന്റ് ഗേള്‍സ് കോളേജിന്റെ പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പല്‍ സ്ഥാനം ഏറ്റെടുക്കാന്‍ അവര്‍ പിന്നീട് സോകോടോയിലേക്ക് മാറി.

ഷെയ്ഖ് അഹമ്മദ് ലെമു 1976-ല്‍ നൈജര്‍ സ്‌റ്റേറ്റിലെ ശരീഅഃ അപ്പീല്‍ കോടതിയുടെ ഗ്രാന്‍ഡ് ഖാദിയായി. അന്നുമുതല്‍ 1978 വരെ മിന്നയിലെ വിമന്‍സ് ടീച്ചേഴ്‌സ് കോളേജിന്റെ പ്രിന്‍സിപ്പലായിരുന്നു ഐഷ. ദമ്പതികള്‍ ഇസ്‌ലാമിക് എജ്യുക്കേഷന്‍ ട്രസ്റ്റ് (ഐഇടി) സ്ഥാപിച്ചു. ഇപ്പോള്‍ നിരവധി നൈജീരിയന്‍ സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങളില്‍ പ്രവര്‍ത്തിക്കുന്ന ഓഫീസുകളും ഒരു ലൈബ്രറിയും ഉണ്ട്. അതില്‍  പ്രൈമറി, സെക്കന്‍ഡറി സ്‌കൂള്‍, സ്ത്രീകള്‍ക്കുള്ള മുതിര്‍ന്നവര്‍ക്കുള്ള വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ കേന്ദ്രം എന്നിവ ഉള്‍പ്പെടുന്നു. വിവിധ സ്‌കൂള്‍ തലങ്ങളില്‍ ദേശീയ ഇസ്‌ലാമിക പാഠ്യപദ്ധതി പരിഷ്‌കരിക്കാനായുള്ള നൈജീരിയന്‍ എജ്യുക്കേഷണല്‍ റിസര്‍ച്ച് കൗണ്‍സില്‍ രൂപീകരിച്ച ഇസ്‌ലാമിക് സ്റ്റഡീസ് പാനലില്‍ ലെമു അംഗമായിരുന്നു.  
1985-ല്‍ ലെമു മറ്റ് മുസ്‌ലിം സ്ത്രീകളുമായി ചേര്‍ന്ന് നൈജീരിയയിലെ മുസ്‌ലിം വിമന്‍സ് അസോസിയേഷനുകളുടെ ഫെഡറേഷന്‍ (FOMWAN) സ്ഥാപിക്കുകയും നാല് വര്‍ഷത്തേക്ക് അതിന്റെ ആദ്യത്തെ ദേശീയ അമീറയായി തിരഞ്ഞെടുക്കപ്പെടുകയും ചെയ്തു. ഈ കാലാവധിക്കുശേഷം ലെമു ഒരു സിവില്‍ സര്‍വീസായും സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചു.

ദ ഐഡിയല്‍ മുസ്‌ലിം വൈഫ്, ദ ഐഡിയല്‍ മുസ്‌ലിം ഹസ്ബന്റ്, മെത്തഡോളജി ഓഫ് പ്രൈമറി ഇസ്‌ലാമിക് സ്റ്റഡീസ്, തിയറി ഓഫ് എവലൂഷന്‍, റഫ്യൂടേഷന്‍ ഓഫ് ഡാര്‍വിന്‍സ് തിയറി തുടങ്ങിയ നിരവധി ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങളുടെ കര്‍ത്രി കൂടിയായ ആഇശലെമു ഇംഗ്ലണ്ട്, മലേഷ്യ തുടങ്ങിയ രാജ്യങ്ങളില്‍ ഇസ്‌ലാമിക പ്രഭാഷണം നടത്തിയിട്ടുണ്ട്.

കൂടാതെ ഫ്രഞ്ച്, ജര്‍മ്മന്‍, സ്വീഡിഷ്, ചൈനീസ്, ബഹാസ, മലായ്, അറബിക് തുടങ്ങിയ ഭാഷകളിലേക്ക് നിരവധി ഗ്രന്ഥങ്ങള്‍ വിവര്‍ത്തനം ചെയ്യുകയും പ്രസിദ്ധീകരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്തിട്ടുണ്ട്.
2019 ജനുവരി 5 ന് നൈജീരിയയിലെ മിന്നയില്‍ വച്ചാണ് മരണം.
